Polk County, Florida -- A man has been arrested for stealing around $20,000 worth of merchandise from stores in Polk County.
The investigation began after the Hillsborough and Polk County Sheriff Offices were tipped off that Richard Green was possibly selling stolen merchandise at the Silver Moon Flea Market in Lakeland. On October 24, detectives conducted an undercover surveillance on Green and observed him shoplifting items from various stores in Lakeland.
After Green was taken into custody he showed detectives several plastic totes in his truck and storage warehouse filled with stolen merchandise. Detectives determined the stolen merchandise was worth around $20,000.
Some of the merchandise still had store markings on them and detectives will be returning the goods back to the stores from which they were stolen.
Green was booked into the Polk County Jail,
where he is being held on $5,000 bond.
