East Lake won a tough battle of Pinellas County's top two teams. The Eagles downed the Largo Packers, 22-0 thanks to a pair of interceptions from USF commit, Devin Abraham.
East Lake started slow last week against Palm Harbor and started slow again tonight. Jake Hudson threw an interception deep in Largo's red zone early in the first quarter. The Packers did not convert the turnover into points, Instead, the Packers threw their own interception, one of two in the first half.
Largo was without it's top two running backs, including last week's 10 News Player of the Week, running back Jarvis Stewart. Midway through the second quarter, the Packers' starting quarterback, Donavan Hale, also had to leave the game with a right foot injury.
Weston Fordham gave East Lake a cushion in the third quarter with his 6-yard touchdown run. That gave the Eagles a 9-0 lead.
The Packers will host Gibbs next weekend. East Lake will host Dunedin. Both of those games are Thursday night.
