LAKELAND, Florida -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office has arrested three teens suspected in a string of vehicle burglaries in the Lakeland area.
Deputies responded to a burglary in progress on St. Lucia Drive at approximately 1:29 a.m. Sunday, August 11, the sheriff's office says. Witnesses there reportedly saw two teens rummaging through unlocked cars.
Deputies located the teens and took them into custody, along with a third suspect. They were identified as 15-year-old Stephan St. Martin, 16-year-old Ryan Henderson, and 16-year-old Garrett Pate.
The sheriff's office says each of the suspects confessed to "car hopping." They allegedly walked through the subdivision and pulled on the handles of multiple cars, entering the ones that were unlocked.
The juveniles reportedly had five GPS devices, an LG cell phone, cell phone chargers, a black cell phone case, a Nintendo DS, loose change, a black box with CDs inside, two sets of sunglasses, chewing gum, and $27.00 cash when they were arrested.
They have all been charged with multiple counts of burglary, grand theft, and petit theft.
