Tampa, Florida -- A man is behind bars Monday after deputies say he allegedly threatened to kill Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco and had the means to do it.
Pasco Sheriff's deputies say on June 12, 51-year-old Robert Fernandez was at the McDonald's restaurant in the 2400 block of Land O' Lakes Boulevard where he reportedly made threatening remarks to a witness that intended to kill Sheriff Nocco.
The witness called police to tell them about his remarks and, two days later, Fernandez's vehicle was located and pulled over. During a search of his vehicle, deputies found a large amount of ammunition, handcuffs and a nylon rope in his car.
He was arrested and charged with corruption by threat against a public servant. There's also a pending warrant against Fernandez for aggravated stalking.
The sheriff's office says he has no permanent residence and is a threat to flee. There is also concern that he may carry out his remarks because of his violent history.
