Orangeburg, South Carolina (WLTX) -- Orangeburg County deputies have charged a teen they say tried to set a fellow student on fire during class.

Donna Pinckney, 17, was arrested at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School.

An incident report states that on May 9, Pinckney went to a classroom and threw perfume on a female student. The document goes on to say that Pinckney then took out a piece of paper, lit it, and attempted to set the student on fire.

The intended victim was not seriously hurt.

School officials told officers Pinckney was questioned in the office. According to the report, Pinckney said "I was trying to kill her, I was going to send her to the devil."

Pinckney was then taken into custody.

Officers did find evidence that the victim may have made threats to Pinckney on Twitter, and have charged her with assault.

Pinckney has been suspended and recommended for expulsion, according to the district. The other girl was suspended for five days.
