Cape Coral, Florida (News-Press) -- A Cape Coral man was charged Tuesday with illegally practicing tattooing at a home after Lee County deputies busted a tattoo party.

Travis Jon Fernandes, 26, was arrested in the sting.

Deputies conducted an undercover operation after learning an illegal tattoo party was gong to take place, according to a sheriff's office report.

Detectives saw a party at a residence on SE 21st Terrace and learned from one of the partygoers it was in fact a tattoo party.

An undercover deputy asked about getting a tattoo at party the and was allegedly offered one for $80 by Fernandes.

Fernandes was taken into custody and transported to the Lee County Jail without incident.

Detectives found several items used for tattooing, including a massage table, tattoo machines, needles, inks, rubber gloves and a foot pedal used to operate the machines.

Fernandes told investigators he did not know it was illegal in Florida to tattoo without a license, and he said he once had a license to tattoo in Connecticut.
