Winter Haven, Florida -- The Winter Haven Police Department is searching for a man they describe as a very dangerous and violent felon wanted in connection with the attempted fatal shooting of a person in a crowd at the Spring Lake Plaza on April 28.
Police say witnesses identified 27-year-old Dorale Desean Simmons as the man they saw point a gun at the victim's head and pull the trigger at the plaza just off Havendale Boulevard, near Hwy 17. Luckily, the gun misfired and the victim was able to get away. Sermons also ran away before officers arrived at the scene.
Winter Haven Police say Sermons has a very violent criminal history that includes charges of First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, Shooting Into An Occupied Vehicle, Battery on Law Enforcement, Depriving Law Enforcement of Means of Communications, Resisting Arrest With Violence, Aggravated Battery, Grand Theft, Burglary, Felony Criminal Mischief, Disorderly Conduct and a host of other charges all dating back to 1999.
Sermons is considered armed and extremely dangerous. His last known address is 707 North 6th Street in Haines City.
Police are asking for anyone with information on Sermon's whereabouts to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477) or 9-1-1 immediately. Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a CASH reward.
