Sulpher Springs, Florida -- A man is being treated at Tampa General Hospital after he was critically injured inside a house fire in Sulphur Springs Tuesday morning.
Tampa Fire Rescue says shortly after 6 a.m., firefighters forced open the front door of the home in the 8400 block of North 16th Street when a neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from the roof.
Once inside the smoke-filled home, reports say the crew found 30-year-old Terrance McGriff unconscious just four-feet from the front door.
McGriff was rushed to Tampa General Hospital with life threatening injuries, and officials say he remains there in critical condition.
During the search to find any other victims, fire crews found three dogs that had already died. No other firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.
Investigators say a pot on the stove may have caused the fire, which has been estimated to have left $20,000 in damages to the home.
