St. Petersburg, Florida -- It's almost that time! Baseball season is right around the corner and the city of St. Pete is kicking things off with a big party on Opening Day.
On Tuesday, April 2, the city of St. Petersburg will observe Opening Day with the Tampa Bay Rays with a rally and street party on Central Avenue from noon to 3 p.m.
The party, held in front of Ferg's, 1320 Central Ave., marks the team's ninth opening day of baseball at Tropicana Field.
The street party will feature live country music from the Troy Duncan Band and Top 40 hits from Sunburn, kids' games, giveaways, ballpark-style food and more.
Mayor Bill Foster and Petey, St. Petersburg's First Puppy, along with local beauty pageant titleholders, will make special appearances.
Due to the street party, Central Ave. will be closed to traffic from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
