The witness, who also pulled over to help the dog, told deputies the man gave the dog water and said he was going to take it to his Tampa home. The witness also said the dog had road rash, which probably occurred from jumping out of the trailer, but looked fine and was in good shape.
Deputies say the witness did not get any information on the man or the car he was driving. The sheriff's office is asking the person to return "Doc" and has released surveillance video of the man at the T&T Shell Service store on Palmer Boulevard in Sarasota shortly after "Doc" escaped hosing him off.
HCSO is asking the man to return the dog. He would also be eligible for the $1,000 reward. Anyone who may recognize this man is asked to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's at 813-247-8200.
