Sarasota, Florida -- A Sarasota man was arrested Monday after police say he engaged in sexual activity with a boy he met online.
Sarasota detectives say the two met through a social networking application in late December and communicated through text messages for about two weeks.
During that time, police say 33-year-old Michael Christner sent the 15-year-old sexually explicit photos and had sexual discussions with the boy.
On Jan. 16, detectives examined the boy's cell phone and found 13 images of Christner, along with the conversations in question. In an interview with detectives the next day, the boy identified Christner in a photo lineup and reportedly told them Christner knew he was only 15.
He also told them one time Christner picked him up from his mother's neighborhood early in the morning, after he snuck out, and took him to a place in Bradenton where they engaged in sexual activity.
Detectives searched Christner's home on Jan. 28 where they found evidence including more than a dozen photos of the two engaged in sexual activity as well as nude photos of him that he sent to the boy. In an interview, detectives say Christner admitted he was the man in the photos.
He has been charged with one count of Using a Computer to Entice a Child to Engage in Sexual Activity, one count of Traveling to Meet a Minor to Engage in Sexual Activity and 13 counts of the Transmission of Material Harmful to Minors.
The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the allegation that Christner drove the victim to Manatee County to engage in sexual activity.
