Clearwater, Florida -- The driver of a car involved in a fatal crash on the Bayside Bridge back in October faces multiple charges Monday, including DUI manslaughter.
FHP troopers say around 3:15 a.m. on Oct. 27, Veronica Herrera had just exited the bridge in the inside southbound lane when she failed to negotiate the curve to the right, left the road and slammed into landscaping in the median.
The force of the impact caused the Nissan Altima to re-enter the road and come to a final rest in the center northbound lane.
The passenger in Herrera's car, 45-year-old Noi Pinheiro, was partially ejected from the car and died three days later at Bayfront Medical Center.
Herrera, 32, suffered serious injuries in the crash. She is being charged with DUI manslaughter, property damage and careless driving.
