Brooksville, Florida -- A man's attempt to scare his former friends went too far when he got police involved not once, but multiple times in one night, leading to his arrest.

Hernando County deputies say on Thursday they received numerous calls from a resident on Hemlock Warbler Road saying a man they had recently filed a protection order against had parked his truck outside their home and the alarm was going off.

After numerous attempts to find or contact the man -- identified as Scott Wright -- were unsuccessful, deputies camped outside the victims' home and waited with a K-9 team. It finally paid off, when the victims went to sleep and the alarm went off again.

The K-9 team was ready and deployed immediately. They were able to track Wright to a home a short distance away on House Finch Road that was within viewing distance of the victims' home.

When deputies questioned Wright, he told them "he was just trying to scare the victims, so they wouldn't mess with his belongings or his truck". They found his electronic key FOB that he had been using to activate the alarm and play with the door locks.

Wright, deputies say, also admitted he watched them arrive on numerous occasions and that he even called the Communications Center in anger, to ask why the victims had not been removed from the home.

Due to his actions, deputies say Wright had tied up emergency service personnel, both communications and law enforcement officers for four hours, as he tried to "scare" the victims.

Wright, 41, was arrested for stalking is being held without bond. He was also charged with violation of felony probation.
