New Port Richey, Florida -- A homeless man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old while he was staying in her home.
The girl told detectives Don Hughes came into her bedroom back in May last year and told her "he needed to teach her what boys and men will do to her", according to the arrest report. He then exposed himself to her, fondled her breasts, and performed sex acts on her.
The girl told detectives she was afraid of Hughes because he was big and strong.
While in police custody, Hughes said he did have a conversation with her in her bedroom about teaching her what men and boys will do to her, but said he never engaged in any sexual activity with her.
An exam performed on the girl that investigators say supported her story and Hughes was charged with involuntary sexual battery.
