Pasadena, FL-- An 83-year-old pedestrian passed away after being involved in a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash in South Pasadena today.
According to officials, it was shortly before 11 a.m. when the pedestrian, Margherita Trupiano, took just a couple of steps off of the curb into the crosswalk at the intersection of Pasadena Ave. South and Majestic Way.
Officials say a Ford Econo-Line van, driven by 54-year Emile Daniel, was moving forward in the curb lane and struck her.
Officials do not believe alcohol or speed were a factor in this accident.
Trupiano was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, where she passed away shortly after 1 p.m.
According to investigators, the pedestrian identified as 83-year-old Margherita Trupiano, was crossing Pasadena Avenue westbound at the crosswalk at Majestic Way. (This is a t-intersection.)
Neither alcohol nor speed appear to be a factor in this case.
The investigation continues.
