Hernando Co., FL-- Attend a class instead of being arrested? That's the option Hernando deputies are giving store clerks who were recently caught selling alcohol to underage individuals.

According to officials, the Sheriff's Vice and Narcotics Unit and the county's Community Anti-Drug Coalition conducted an Underage Alcohol Buy Operation at 14 Hernando convenience stores Thursday.

Store clerks at the following locations sold alcoholic beverages to the underage informant involved in the sting:

  • Circle K - 13337 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville
  • Sunoco - 6029 Spring Hill Dr., Spring Hill
  • Hess - 75 Broad St., Brooksville

All three clerks were reportedly given the opportunity to attend a training class in lieu of a criminal charge.

The class, called Promoting Retailers Education Program in Florida (P.R.E.P for short), is being provided by the Hernando County Community Anti-Drug Coalition.
