St. Petersburg, Florida -- A man died Tuesday morning after he was allegedly stabbed by a roommate over stolen food.
St. Pete Police say 56-year-old Anthony Smith and 36-year-old Corey Walker were living together at transitional housing provided by the New Faith Methodist Church with two other men. Around 9:40 this morning, the two men got into an argument after Walker accused Smith of stealing food from his room.
During the argument, witnesses told police Walker got a butcher knife and stabbed Smith in the chest. One of the witnesses ran out to a passerby telling them to call 911. When officers arrived, Smith was found inside and was rushed to Bayfront Medical Center where he later died of his injury.
Walker was arrested and is being charged with second degree murder. The knife was recovered from the kitchen sink.
