UPDATE: Building fire in Gulfport, no one inside

Gulfport, FL-- UPDATE: Officials say the car belonging to the owner of the burning building was parked outside when a fire started, but the owner was at home at the time.

Officials closed Gulfport Blvd. from 49th St. to 52nd St. as crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

They say this particular fire took longer to put out because the building, a hardware store, had chemicals and paint inside.

The building is at a total loss, but officials say no one was hurt.

City of Gulfport Fire officials are currently at the scene of a two-alarm, commercial building fire, and reports say it is possible that a person is trapped inside the building. 

The building is located on the 5000 block of Gulfport Blvd.
