Sarasota, Florida -- Authorities have captured a man who made his way back into the country and is accused of molesting a 10-year-old girl.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office worked with U.S. Marshals to track down 28-year-old Eric Miranda-Lopez. Miranda-Lopez had re-entered the country in September after he was deported to Mexico in July. It is not known why he was deported.
According to the report, the girl told detectives she woke up on the night of Oct. 14 to Miranda-Lopez inappropriately touching her beneath her underwear. When she moved, he stopped and she watched him crawl out of the room. She then went to her sister's bed, who sleeps on the bottom bunk, and her sister told her someone had touched her too.
The girl told her mother, who confronted Miranda-Lopez, and told him he had to move out. He called a friend to pick him up and was gone before deputies arrived.
The mother told detectives Miranda-Lopez had been living with the family for over 5 years and that she was shocked he did something like this to her children, but defended her girls saying they would never make up anything like this up.
The girl's older sister told detectives she remembered waking up that night at some point because someone was feeling around and touching her. She said she was half-asleep and thought it was her sister feeling around for the remote control to the television. The next thing she remembered was the bed moving like someone was on the bunk ladder and her sister waking her up crying and telling her Miranda-Lopez touched her privates.
During their investigation that day, detectives learned Miranda-Lopez had quit his job as a cook at Polo Grill and Bar and told a friend he was moving out of the state.
Miranda-Lopez was charged with Lewd and Lascivious Molestation and is being held in the Sarasota County Jail without bond, in addition to the administration hold placed on him by ICE...again.
