Palm Harbor, Florida -- Detectives are asking for the public's help providing any information on the whereabouts of a man who was last seen in the middle of August.

On Aug. 21, Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies found Raymond Rupp's deceased yellow Labrador after reports of a foul smell coming from his apartment at Harbor Club Downs Condominiums. Animal Control was called out investigate the dog's apparent neglect that lead to her death but efforts to reach Rupp were unsuccessful.

By Sept. 16, the condo's management told deputies Rupp had not returned to his apartment.

On Sept. 28, two checkbooks belonging to Rupp were found in a transient camp in a wooded area in the vicinity of Nebraska Avenue and US 19. A Sheriff's K-9 team came across the checks while tracking the woods on a unrelated case. Detectives say there is evidence that someone other than Rupp tried to cash the checks on his account after he reportedly went missing.

A witness told detectives Rupp was last seen in August when he left his apartment to take a computer to be repaired. All those who know Rupp have been interviewed and detectives need the public's help with any information about him before or after his apparent disappearance.

He is described as a white male, 5'10" tall, about 120 pounds, with graying brown hair, blue eyes and slight facial hair and possibly has a goatee. He does not own or drive a car due to a vision impairment.

Citizens can call Pinellas County Sheriff's Crimes Against Persons Corporal Ed Judy at 727-582-6200 or to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
