Land O' Lakes, Florida -- It was not an ordinary day for the employees at NAPA Auto Parts in Land O' Lakes on Sept. 28.
Deputies say Paul Brock Jr. was riding past the store on his bicycle when he saw his son's truck in the parking lot and stopped in front of it.
His son got out of the truck and was confronted by his father who pulled a machete out from his bike's basket and hit his son in the wrist three times.
The son told deputies that his father was "mad because he was just laid off by my boss. He comes in late, is always on drugs, and is not a good worker and, for that, my boss let him go. He's not happy about it."
Brock, 52, was arrested a short time later, right down the street at the Country Store in the 4100 block of U.S 41, where he works part time.
During a search of Brock's bicycle, deputies found a 14-inch, "extremely rusty" machete in his basket. Brock denied the allegation he swung the machete at his son and said he tried talking to him "peacefully."
Brock was charged with aggravated battery. He was released from Land O'Lakes Jail Friday, Oct. 5 on $10,000 bond.
