Crash on Gandy Bridge shuts down Eastbound lanes

Tampa, FL-- Pinellas County Patrol Deputies have closed the eastbound lanes of the Gandy Bride after a beer truck reportedly crashed into a concrete barrier on the bridge.

Based upon the preliminary information, 32-year-old Jeremy Greathouse was driving a J & J Taylor Distributing tractor trailer in the outside lane on the Gandy Bridge, when he lost control on the wet roadway and collided with the outside concrete railing.

He then deflected across both lanes and collided with the inside concrete railing. He came to final rest jackknifed and blocking both eastbound lanes of the bridge.  

The collision closed the eastbound lanes for two hours as crews worked to remove the vehicle, debris and vehicle fluids left on the roadway post-crash.  

Greathouse reportedly suffered minor injuries from the crash.

Deputies are on scene assisting with traffic, and Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
