Palm Bay, Florida (FL Today) -- A Brevard man accused of severely beating his former girlfriend at a Viera McDonald's is being held in jail without bond.

Terrance Lakeman, 43, faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery and aggravated stalking in acts of domestic violence and violation of pretrial release conditions, Brevard County Sheriff's officials said.

Lakeman is accused of following his former girlfriend into the bathroom at the fast-food restaurant on Stadium Parkway on Friday morning, beating her and leaving her critically injured on the floor. He was found and arrested a short time later by Brevard's GAMEOVER Task Force in Palm Bay.

"The GAMEOVER Task Force continues to demonstrate why partnerships are so important and effective," Brevard County Sheriff Jack Parker said in a statement. "This unit is a model program for law enforcement efforts across the country and continues to make Brevard County safer every day by removing the worst of the worst from our communities. This is a very dangerous assignment and I couldn't be more proud of everyone involved."

The arrest was the 800th for GAMEOVER, a multi-agency group formed in 2008 to identify and arrest the most dangerous repeat offenders. The task force includes members of the sheriff's office, Titusville, Cocoa, Rockledge, Melbourne and Palm Bay police departments, Florida Department of Corrections parole and probation and the State Attorney's Office.

The woman injured in the attack is expected to recover. Lakeman's next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 30. If convicted of the attempted murder charge, Lakeman could face life in prison.
