Tampa, Florida - Hillsborough County's Real Estate Services Director, 53-year-old Andrew Haynes of Seffner, has been charged with five counts of mail and wire fraud affecting a financial institution.
Haynes, if proven guilty, faces up to 30 years in federal prison on each count, and a payment of almost $990,500 to the U.S.- the amount of the proceeds from the mail and wire fraud.
According to the indictment, Haynes purchased nine lots of land in Tennessee, and misrepresented information on required loan applications and closing documents for the mortgages.
The mortgages were funded by interstate wires from a federally insured bank, and the closing was conducted by mail.
This case was investigated by Federal Bureau of Investigation.
