Bradenton, Florida -- A Horizons Academy High School student is in police custody Friday after he reportedly fired several shots at a school bus stop.
Deputies say students and a bus monitor arrived at the school and told a resource officer they saw the 15-year-old student fire several shots in the air while at the bus stop in the 3200 block of 9th Street E.
As a precaution, nearby schools Rowlett Elementary School and Southeast High School were placed on lock down while deputies search for the boy. He was found around 9:30 a.m. at a nearby home in the 900 block of 38th Terrace East.
Authorities say the student never fired any shots at the bus, students or school or threaten any students with the handgun. No one was injured in the incident.
The boy was charged with Discharging a Firearm within 1000 ft. of a school.
