Tampa, Fl. - Students at the University of South Florida are on edge this morning after learning a student was attacked inside a dorm on Wednesday evening. The suspect is still on the loose.

The sexual battery happened at Kappa Hall. It houses 246, first year students. It's coed by suite. There are eight students to a suite. In the parking lot outside of the dorm, there is one of those blue emergency lights.

On Wednesday, USF Police got a report of a sexual battery that took place at Kappa Hall. A student said a man sexually battered her around 6:50 in the evening. We talked to a student who lives in this dorm. She says she found out about it through an email at a friends' apartment.

She says she went back to her dorm and says police were everywhere.

"I'm afraid, its shocking. When you think of rapes, or sexual assault, or whatever happened, you would think its like at late night, or someone was drunk. But it was in the evening, it was pretty early in the evening so I wouldn't stay in my dorm for a long time," says Henna Pate, a freshman at USF.

The victim described the suspect as white, about 18-22 years in age, between 5'8 and 6 feet tall and about 180 pounds with a muscular build and short black or brown shaggy hair. She says he was wearing flip flops, green cargo shorts and a dark gray T-shirt.

USF police are investigating. If you have any information, you're asked to call 813-974-2628.

USF Police are investigating a separate incident at a nearby Epsilon Hall where a burglary was reported at 6 this morning. USF Police responded within three minutes and were able to catch the suspect.
