Tampa, Florida -- A man who really didn't want to go to jail, went so far as to steal his arresting officer's police cruiser in an attempt to elude arrest.

Tampa Police say the officer saw Lorenzo Little arguing with a woman while patrolling the area of the East Gate Motel in the 1300 block of Hillsborough Avenue Friday afternoon. When the officer tried to intervene, Little quickly shoved what the officer suspected was drugs into his mouth.

At that point, a struggle ensued between Little and the officer. Little broke away and fled the scene in the officer's car before crashing into a woman's car while trying to maneuver through traffic, a parked car in the 5200 block of N. 15th Street and a home in the 1400 block of E. Frierson Avenue.

Little then ditched the cruiser, fled on foot, and broke into a nearby home. Officers tracked him down when he fled through the back door but temporarily lost sight of him and set up a perimeter. When a K-9 unit found him in his hiding spot, he was finally arrested.

Little was treated for a K-9 bite and has been charged with Battery of a LEO, 2 counts of Burglary, Grand Theft Auto, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Fleeing to Elude, Hit and Run w/ injuries, Reckless Driving and D.W.L.S. w/ knowledge in addition to outstanding warrants on drug charges.

The officer involved in the struggle was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
