Tampa, Florida -- After helping to host a successful Republican National Convention where he was the only Democrat to speak, some have started to speculate whether Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn will run for governor.
In fact, one un-named GOP strategist told the Tampa Bay Times this week that Democrats would be wise to line-up behind Buckhorn for a 2014 gubernatorial run.
But Buckhorn tells 10 News he's definitely not running and instead hopes to be elected to a second term as mayor.
"I love being mayor, I mean I really do," Buckhorn said. "I love this job, I love this city. If I never did anything after these 8 years, if I'm lucky (to be re-elected) I would be perfectly happy. But I do know this, there is no future if I don't do my job (as mayor) and so I just focus on doing my job and let the rest of the stuff take care of itself."
Buckhorn is heading to Charlotte next week for the Democratic National Convention where he will be a Florida delegate.
