RIVERVIEW, Fla. - Hillsborough County deputies have arrested two people for trafficking in marijuana.

Investigators say 25-year-old Emory Lawson and 22-year-old Amy Ubinas live in the same home in Riverview. They say they developed information that Lawson was distributing marijuana. Deputies had Lawson under surveillance and saw him leave his home in a 1999 Lexus carrying a green bag on Saturday afternoon.

Deputies say they then followed him and attempted a traffic stop. That's when Lawson allegedly drove into a yard in Butler Woods Circle and bailed from the vehicle. He then ran off with the green bag.

Deputies say Lawson threw the bag away. It was located by a K-9. Lawson was found hiding in a shed nearby.

Deputies say they went back to Lawson's home and found his girlfriend, Amy Ubinas. Ubinas gave deputies permission to search the home, where they reportedly discovered 50 pounds of marijuana in three duffle bags in couple's bedroom.

The marijuana was all packaged for distribution, according to investigators. They say there were 62 baggies with a street value of $65,000. Lawson had $12,497 in cash on him at the
time of his arrest.

Lawson is being charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a drug house, burglary to a structure, fleeing and eluding, and reckless driving.

Ubinas is charged with trafficking in marijuana.
