McCullers named Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year

Tampa, FL-- Jesuit HS senior pitcher is the Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year.

McCullers is expected to be a top draft pick in next Monday's First-Year Player draft.

As a pitcher with the Tigers, he went 13-0 this past season, with a 0.18 ERA.  He struck out 140 batters in 77.1 innings.

Lance is also heavily involved with community work, both in Tampa and at Jesuit.

He has already signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Florida.

Lance is the 4th Bay Area player to receive this honor from Gatorade.  The others were Gary Sheffield of Hillsborough HS, Doug Million of Sarasota HS, and Casey Kotchman of Seminole HS.

He was honored in an afternoon ceremony at Jesuit HS.
