Bradenton, Fla. -- Derrick Calloway is a four-star recruit.  He's being offered by dozens of college football programs across the country.

He also anchors arguably the best defensive line in high school football.  Not just in Florida, but in the nation.

"Two years ago, I never knew I'd be here," Calloway said. "It's kind of getting a little bit overwhelming though because everybody's coming in now."

Manatee head coach Joe Kinnan estimates more than 80 Division I college programs have visited the Hurricanes' spring practices.  But Calloway is not the only player under the watchful eye of those recruiters.

Fellow senior defensive end Blake Keller, along with junior defensive tackle Demarcus Christmas and jiunior defensive end Marquis Dawsey, are all Division I prospects.  And they were a big reason the Hurricanes won the Class 7A state title in 2011.

"They're very good players, and they're good people too," Kinnan said. "And they work hard... It's a front four that is gonna make our offensive line better because we work against them every day."

"They're definitely the best D line we face," senior offensive tackle Thor Miller said. "so usually games are a breeze."

"We're gonna plan on getting another ring this year," Calloway said.
