  • Miami, Florida (AP) -- Teen singing sensation Justin Bieber is putting his star power to work to keep teens from texting and driving.

Bieber is promoting a Boca Raton company's free app that disabled texting and keyboard functions on mobile phones while a car is moving faster tahn 10 miles an hour.

In return, Bieber will get shares of the South Florida company PhoneGuard.

A spokesman for Bieber said the teen pop star has been approached to endorse many different products but chose PhoneGuard because he believes the message.  The app was released in early July.

An upgraded version of the application that will be released later this summer will cost $29.99 annually.  A dollar from every sale will go to the Remember Alex Brown Foundation--created in memory of a Texas teenager who died while she was texting and driving.
