Tampa, Florida - Here's a new twist on pork chops, that you are sure to enjoy. Audra Nasser of Tampa's Dinner Done creates a dish that is full in flavor and fairly easy to prepare, Bacon Chedder Chops.
Bacon Cheddar Chops:
A dish the entire family will love.
6 boneless pork chops (about 3/4" thick)
1 cup cooked chopped bacon
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups fresh spinach leaves
1 Tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp garlic powder
Preheat oven to 375F. In a small bowl mix the brown sugar, paprika, pepper, salt and garlic powder together. Rub the spices all over the outside of the pork chops. Lay chops in a greased casserole dish. On top of each pork chop, lay equal amounts of spinach, cheddar cheese and bacon. Bake chops for 25-30 minutes until cooked throughout*.
* Did you know? These days pork is a very lean meat. It tastes best - and is perfectly safe to eat - when it is still a little on the pink side, and has been cooked to an internal temperature of 155-160F. Cooking time will vary with thickness of the chop.
