TAMPA, Florida-- Protesters, who were outnumbered 3 to 1 by police, were almost arrested for tresspassing today in downtown Tampa while protesting former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice.

But when they learned Rice had cancelled the event, they left peacefully, declaring victory.

Those at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts today say their protest was about peace and love. Other protesters claimed the same thing, but they were actually about hate and intolerance.

Reuben Israel of the group Bible Believers was on a bullhorn shouting, "As a right wing Republican, I am offended you would vote in a Mormon."

He screamed, "Have you lost your mind?"

It wasn't just Mitt Romney the group was after, as others on the street argued about the gay lifestyle, saying it is prohibited by the Bible and asking, "The question is, is it normal to do those things?"

And while the protests could have ended with confrontations, the police showed great restraint in trying to calm the situation.
