St. Petersburg, Florida -- Former Governor and current gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist visited Haslam's Book Store in St. Petersburg today to promote his new book, "The Party's Over: How the Extreme Right Hijacked the GOP and I Became a Democrat."
He signed copies of his new memoir and shared with 10 News his stance on the hot topic of gun laws like Stand Your Ground.
"I believe in the second amendment," he said. "I support it, but I think there are some things we need to do to make our state and our country more safe, and some common sense things come to mind, things like the background checks."
Crist's comments come after Michael Dunn was convicted in Jacksonville on three counts of attempted second degree murder after shooting into a car carrying four teenagers. One teen, Jordan Davis, was killed, but there was a hung jury when it came to the first degree murder charge.
