Clearwater, Florida -- Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Deborah Clark announces that voters now have the opportunity to receive sample ballots for countywide elections by email.
Starting Oct. 1, House Bill 247 provides that the statewide Voter Registration Application include a space for an email address and the option for voters to request that their sample ballots be emailed to them.
"We are pleased to give voters a new option for receiving sample ballots," Clark said. "Many people prefer electronic communication, and we welcome the technology to accommodate them."
Voters who request sample ballots for countywide elections by email will no longer receive sample ballots for countywide elections by regular mail. Voters will also need to need to keep their email addresses current with the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Office.
Please note that sample ballot email information provided by the voter is not exempt from public record under Florida law.
To request sample ballots by email:
New registration applications are being revised by the Division of Elections by Administrative Rule and are expected to be available by mid-October in all Supervisor of Elections Offices as well as voter registration agencies such as public libraries, tax collector offices, public assistance offices and military recruitment offices.
