Lakeland, Florida -- Lakeland Mayor Gow Fields and his opponent, Howard Wiggs, held a breakfast debate Wednesday morning where they addressed many questions but, surprisingly, the police department's sex scandal never came up.
Wiggs is a current county commissioner and has been very vocal during the Lakeland Police scandal.
"I was a little surprised at that, and I was also surprised that the grand jury presentment didn't come up. Those are two areas that I think we [me and Mayor Fields] have a significant difference of opinion on," said Wiggs.
Mayor Fields said it was submitted to them as a question to consider but it was up to the facilitator to decide which questions would be asked.
