New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner acknowledged sending explicit text messages to a woman as recently as last summer.
NEW YORK (AP) - Former congressman Anthony Weiner was the focus of much of the latest debate among five Democratic candidates running for New York City mayor even as a new poll puts him in fourth place.
Weiner apologized for his past behavior Tuesday, acknowledging personal mistakes. A Quinnipiac University poll released earlier in the day put Weiner at 10 percent.
He was leading the field until he revealed last month he continued to send sexually explicit online messages to women even after resigning from Congress in 2011 for similar behavior
The latest poll says Public Advocate Bill de Blasio is the choice of 30 percent of likely Democratic voters, launching him to front-runner status.
He seemed to embrace the role as the most progressive candidate, making clear he would tax wealthy city residents.
