MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Young leaders in the Republican Party say the GOP must do more than change campaign strategy and tactics to win over younger and nonwhite voters.
They say their party needs to put concrete policy arguments in front of voters and change the way they approach some public debates.
Jason Weingartner, the new chairman of the Young Republican National Federation, says House Republicans shouldn't just reject the immigration overhaul that the Democratic-run Senate has passed.
He says the GOP-led House should pass its own bill to expand legal immigration.
Weingartner says that could sidestep partisan divides over border security and how to deal with 11 million people already in the country illegally.
Other Republicans says their party needs to be more inclusive on abortion, same-sex marriage and other social issues.
