St. Petersburg, FL -- Charlie Crist made it official Thursday morning; he became a registered Democrat. But the former republican, turned independent, now turned Democrat, says he still hasn't decided if he will run for governor in 2014.

He also added that he regrets some of the decisions he's made in the past.

"There are probably a few [decisions I regret]; I mean everybody makes mistakes," Crist told reporters outside the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Office in downtown St. Petersburg.

Among the decisions Crist says he regrets, was supporting a ban on gay marriage.

"Would I do it today? No, and I think the best way to judge where my heart is, is to look at the deeds I have done whether as Attorney General or Governor."

Crist also told reporters people inside the Obama administration have encouraged him to run for governor, but he made it clear President Obama has not told him what he thinks he should do.

2010 Democratic Gubernatorial nominee, Alex Sink, welcomed Crist to her party, but said the former republican will also have some explaining to do.

"He's almost a lifelong Republican. As Democrats, we've heard him say lots of things- lots of negative things about Democrats, lots of negative things about President Obama, and he's going to have to go through a vetting process and convince democrats that he really shares our values," Sink told 10 News.

Sink added she has not decided if she will run for governor again, but said her decision will be made regardless of what Crist decides to do.
