Video: Fact-checkers put presidential candidates statements to the truth-o-meter

Tampa, Florida - There is a lot to digest from Wednesday night's first presidential debate. So we are breaking it down for you with PolitiFact Florida. Fact-checkers are hard at work putting both candidates to the truth test.

We'll start with this statement by President Barack Obama:

"Governor Romney's proposal that he has been promoting for 18 months calls for a $5 trillion tax cut, on top of $2 trillion of additional spending for our military. And he is saying that he is going to pay for it by closing loopholes and deductions"

Next, this statement from Governor Mitt Romney:

"On Medicare for current retirees, (Obama) is cutting $716 billion from the program."

On the economy, Mitt Romney said:

"We're now spending 42 percent of our economy on government."

On Romney's Medicare plan, President Barack Obama said:

"And the essence of the plan is that you would turn Medicare into a voucher program. It's called premium support, but it's understood to be a voucher program."

A claim by Mitt Romney on Obama's health care law received a FALSE rating.

Mitt Romney also said that Obama's health care law includes a powerful board that will dictate treatment decision for Medicare patients. It received a MOSTLY FALSE rating.
