Clearwater -  Our Pet of the Week is Jake. Jake is a Jack Russell Terrier that is almost 10 years old. True to the terrier breed, he is an active fellow with a personality that is bigger then life. Jake is a simple fellow that is completely house trained, enjoys plain dry dog food and his favorite toy is a ball. He is a pro at "keep away" we are told. He also likes to go out for long walks and enjoys trips to the dog park.

Jake came to HSP because his family had to move and couldn't take him along. In his previous home, he did share his space with other dogs and even cats too. His ideal new home would include loving, attentive adult(s) with older children that would like to take Jake out for an evening walk everyday.

Pet of the Week: Ellie

Ellie is a very pretty medium sized 1 year old DSH. Her fur is in a beautiful tiger pattern. She is a quiet kitty who is very well behaved in the home. She uses cardboard scratching boxes, doesn't jump on counters, and will actually sit if you ask her to before she is fed. She is extremely affectionate and loves to be petted. She was a mom but is now ready for the attention to be on her.

Ellie was turned in by her previous owners because they had too many pets and could not take care of her any longer. She would probably get along with another easy going cat, but she did experience conflict with another female cat and might require a reasonable settling in period. We do not know how she would do in a home with a dog so if you have one at home please bring them with you to meet her. We recommend that any children in her new forever home should be at least 12 years old.
