Sarasota, Florida - Early Sunday morning, Sarasota deputies say a man who'd been drinking at O'Malley's bar refused to pay his tab.
The arrest report says the customer, Rhett Hopkins, told the bartender he wasn't going to pay his $4 tab because he was working undercover for the Tampa Police Department.
Officers say the bar manager demanded to see Hopkins' identification but Hopkins refused.
As the dispute escalated, investigators say Hopkins grabbed his cell phone, dialed 911 and demanded to speak to his boss, a detective at the Tampa Police Department. Unfortunately for Hopkins, that particular officer had retired from TPD.
The report says when Sarasota deputies pressed him for identification, Hopkins refused to give them his name.
Officers arrested Hopkins. He's charged with impersonating a police officer and obstructing an officer without violence.
Hopkins is being held at the Sarasota County jail on $1,750 bond.
