Coralville, IA (Iowa Press Citizen) -- An Iowa man who was arrested years ago for biting another man's nose off has been charged again - this time for trying to drag an officer down a flight of stairs.

An allegedly intoxicated Donroy Robert Merrival Jr., 45, caused a ruckus Sunday night after calling 911 without an emergency, picking a fight with the cops, resisting arrest and injuring an officer, according to police complaints.

Coralville police responded to Merrival's residence after he called 911 with no emergency at about 10:30 p.m. After warning Merrival and leaving his apartment on the 300 block of Second Street, officers were confronted by the intoxicated 45-year-old as he began yelling at officers.

After being handcuffed for public intoxication, Merrival attempted to pull officers down a flight of stairs, which resulted in injury to one officer. Merrival also allegedly kicked an officer twice during the scuffle.

Merrival was arrested in 2008 for allegedly biting off a drinking buddy's nose in a drunken fight and in 2007 for drugging and attempting to sexually assault a woman.

He now faces a charge of interference with official acts causing bodily injury and public intoxication.
