JACKSONVILLE, Florida (WTLV) -- The jury in one of the most high-profile criminal cases in Jacksonville history is expected to begin deliberating on Wednesday.

Michael Dunn, 47, is facing first-degree murder charges for the November 2012 shooting death of Jordan Davis, 17. The incident is now known around the world as the "shooting over loud music."

Dunn contends he shot and killed the high school student in self-defense after the two got into an argument over loud music at a south side gas station.

Dunn testified that he politely asked for Davis and three other teens to turn down the music coming from their SUV, but that Davis was antagonizing and threatening his life verbally.

Dunn also testified Davis displayed the barrel of what he said was a shotgun from the window of the SUV.

The state argues Davis was not threatening a life because no weapon was ever found at the scene and that Dunn was challenging the teenager.

In court on Tuesday, Judge Russell Healey said closing arguments would begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday with prosecutors going before lunch and the defense going after.

The state will then get a rebuttal opportunity to address the jury of six men and 10 women again. Healey said he hopes to have read jury instructions by 4:30 p.m. so deliberations can begin.

It will be up to the panel of Dunn's peers to decide how long they wish to deliberate Wednesday afternoon.

Healey suggested having dinner delivered and waiting until 7 p.m. before calling it a night should a verdict not be reached beforehand.

Dunn faces life in prison if convicted. He's also accused of attempting to murder the three other teens who were with Davis.
