Photo Gallery: Before and After photo tricks

St. Petersburg, FL - If you're one of the thousands who made a New Year's resolution to get into shape, chances are you have seen the before and after photos and products promising to help you lose weight.

But we've learned many of those photos are not accurate. So we're showing you the tricks used to get you to buy into the hype.

They seem to be everywhere, pictures of people who have conquered weight loss and some, in extreme amounts of time! Sometimes the before and after pictures are startling.

So we took two real women from Tampa Bay and put those before and after pictures to the test.

Here are their "before and afters," check out their transformation! Amazing right? It would have to be, it took just 5 minutes and 30 seconds.

We started by asking Jen Anderson and Rachelle Schwartz to wear lose clothing, put on minimal makeup and barely fix their hair. We snapped "before pictures" having the women stand straight on, without smiling and slouching.

Then we began the "transformation."

Jen and Rachelle changed clothes, fixed their hair and put on makeup. When they were finished - we took the "after pictures."

We asked them how they feel. "When you're taking these "after" pictures, you're not standing straight on, what do you do with your body to look thinner, or look muscular or change the way your arm looks?"

"Definitely shoulders back, I always like to have one arm back, I feel like you have a better view of the bicep and it makes your torso appear longer," says Schwartz.

Then we revealed the pictures to the women, who say they looked very different and the transformation was amazing.

While it's amazing, trainer Bryan Daskam says it's deceiving.

"That's quick and easy, it's really not that quick and easy."

Jen and Rachelle workout five times a week at a bootcamp with Bryan and eat healthy. That's their secret.

While Daskam says there is not a "quick fix" there are simple rules: intense exercise and intense eating, and supplements if you get advice from a professional.

"There is supplementation, but it has to be proper. Not a pill, not a quick fix type thing, I'm talking protein powder, certain vitamins and minerals, things like that."

While Bryan says the 10 to 15 pound change in Jen and Rachelle is impressive - it's not something you're going to get in 5 minutes and 30 seconds.

"10 or 15 pound fat loss that's a good 4 to 8 week period."
