Tampa, Florida -- Gasparilla parade route closures will begin at 10 p.m. Friday on Bayshore Blvd. from Gandy Blvd. to Platt St. Downtown closures will happen early Saturday -- the parade travels north on Ashley Dr. to Cass St.
Parking will be restricted on residential streets that border Bayshore Blvd. Do NOT park where you see restricted parking signs as you will either receive a ticket or be towed.
Parking is available in all downtown and Ybor City parking garages with easy access to the TECO Streetcar Line as well as HART, both of which are offering day passes to facilitate easier travel (both are being offered at $5 or less per person). There will be increased routes to and from the parade route area downtown.
Davis Island access will be restricted, so residents should anticipate delays leaving or returning home.
The parade begins at roughly 2 p.m. and will continue through downtown ending near 5:30 p.m.
Roadblocks on Bayshore Blvd. should be cleared by 8 p.m.
Expect delays on I-275 through the Tampa corridor from the Howard Frankland Bridge to downtown and vice versa. Also, expect delays on the Selmon Expressway approaching the parade area.
Construction will NOT be suspended for the weekend's festivities, so there will be intermittent lane closures on both of those major roads, mostly overnight, early morning and in the later evening hours on Saturday.
Police presence will be heightened near the parade route and pirate invasion area. Remember to designate a sober driver.
