Kmart will open its doors at 6:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day to give shoppers an early start at holiday shopping deals.

Ellenton, Florida-- You may want to leave that turkey in the oven a little longer on Thanksgiving this year, especially if you have shoppers in your family. Stores are opening up earlier than ever on Thanksgiving day- some as early as 6 in the morning.

Target, JCPenney, Sears- they're opening at 8:00 p.m. Deals at Walmart and Best Buy will begin even earlier at 6:00 p.m.

At Kmart, however, manager David Morrison, says get your cup of coffee ready...

"We open at 6:00 in the morning."

While some may think that's crazy, especially on Thanksgiving Day, Morrison says it's smart.

"Alot of people camp out over night, and more and more consumers are preparing where to go."

But employee Mickie Nayman has a separate opinion.

"It's too early," she said of the 6:00 a.m. Thanksgiving Day doorbuster sale.

Nayman knows it's part of the job, but said there's a downside.

"I miss my family."

She will work that day though because of the extra money she'll get on her paycheck.

And at Ellenton Premium Outlets, over 60 stores will open at 8:00 p.m.

"We're giving customers what they want," said Sarah Ozgun with Ellenton Premium Outlets.

But some shoppers say they won't be there.

"I think it's silly."

But the National Retail Federation estimates that consumers will spend 3.9 percent more on holiday shopping this year than last year. So that's why places like Ellenton Premium Outlets and Kmart will give you the opportunity to take your Turkey to go.

"We're running crews every hour."

But not every parking lot is going to be full on Thanksgiving as some stores are giving their employees the holiday off like Costco, who won't open until Friday morning.

Here's a list of stores opening on Thanksgiving day:

  • Walmart: Deals begin at 6 and 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving day.
  • Target: Thanksgiving day opening at 8 p.m.
  • Best Buy: More than 1,000 stores opening at 6 p.m.
  • Sears: Doors will open at 8 p.m.
  • Macy's:  For the first time ever will open on Thanksgiving day at 8 p.m.
  • JCPenney: Opening at 8 p.m.
  • K-Mart: Doors open bright and early at 6 a.m.
  • Ellenton Premium Outlets: Many stores at 8 p.m.
