St. Petersburg, Florida - Michelle Knight's ordeal began in 2002 when Ariel Castro lured her into his Cleveland house with the promise of a puppy for her young son.

"So we go in there and we look for the puppies and the puppies are not there, so he trapped me in a room," Knight told Dr. Phil in an exclusive interview that aired Tuesday on WTSP-TV.

Sitting with her legs crisscrossed on a couch, Knight, now 32, described her years of torture and torment. She was chained, often naked, either to a pole in the basement or to a bed upstairs. She says Castro repeatedly raped her; the sexual assaults endured in silence.

"He took a pipe and he held it like this over my head and he said if you scream, I'll ram this down your throat and I'll kill you. So I didn't scream. I didn't make a noise. I just laid there," she said.

And when Castro found out she was pregnant -- he caused a miscarriage. "I was standing up and he punched me with a bar bellm" Knight said as Dr. Phil let out a deep sigh.

Two other women, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus, were kidnapped after Knight. All three of them were imprisoned for more than a decade before their escape last May.

And Knight says it was the memory of her toddler son that helped her survive this house of horror. Knight said strongly, "I want my son to know me as a victor, not a victim and I want him to know I survived loving him-- his love got me through."

That boy named Joey is now 13 and in foster care. We don't know if Knight has had any contact with him.

Castro pleaded guilty to a slew of crimes and was sentenced to life behind bars. Just weeks later he committed suicide and was found dead in his prison cell.

Dr. Phil's interview with Knight continues on Wednesday.
