CITRUS CO., Florida -- UPDATE: Edward Peters was taken into custody this morning in Sweetwater, Montana just before 5a.m. His two daughters, Madison and Mckala were also recovered and reported to be doing well. The Citrus County Sheriff's Office is gathering information and will release more information soon.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office continues to search for a 45-year-old man who disappeared with his two young daughters earlier this month.
Edward Peters and his daughters, McKala and Madison, were last seen on Sunday, Sept. 8 in Inverness. Edwards allegedly took custody of the girls against the wishes of their court appointed guardian.
The Citrus Co. Sheriff's Office says that Peters' vehicle was found in Sanilac County, Michigan. Deputies now believe he's driving a black 2000 Buick Brevada with Michigan tag #CNH7211.
The sheriff's office says a missing child alert has gone out in Minnesota, but it could not get an Amber Alert sent out in Michigan because there is no federal Amber Alert system, and the Peters' case doesn't meet with Michigan state requirements.
Edward Peters has a warrant issued for his arrest and has violated several court orders.
